Unless you are a published and well-loved author, the question comes to mind, what have you written today?
It is true that some authors can “rest on their laurels” with a huge success under their belts. There are one-hit wonders in the writing world, or people who write two or three novels and spend the rest of their lives lecturing.
Does that sound good to you?
For me, I think the question really has to always be, what’s next? Ideas abound. Thoughts are aplenty. Can you finish one piece without seeing three or four new ones waiting in the wings?
My mother always said, “…if you’re resting on your laurels, your laurels are in the wrong spot.”
Damned if I don’t agree.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio... and isn't it time you experienced some of them?
