Do Write, Be Write

by Richard W Scott on March 10, 2010

I didn’t set out to be a Meta-Blogger.

When I attended the Blogging workshop at the end of January, I got all fired up about the possibilities of blogging.  Uphill Writing wasn’t my first attempt, but is was the first time I approached blogging with any real energy.

Dr. Belew, the instructor at the workshop, is a MEGA-blogger.  He runs 7 concurrent blogs with an aggregate 1.5 million page-reads per month.  What he suggested when fishing around for a topic, was to write what you love, and what you know.  He said that writing about what you think others love is difficult, and often fails.  If you don’t care about your topic, there is no way in the world you’re going to be able to do the number of posts a day that are required to get a blog noticed in a big way.

So, why do I call myself a Meta-blogger?  Because I am a writer who writes about writing.  That makes sense, right?  A little, maybe?

It surprised me just how much there is to say about writing.  It is a huge topic with unlimited possibilities for “soap-boxing”.  More than that, writing about writing is fun.

The trick now is to get to the point where I can do my seven posts a day in two hours or less, and get back to the first love, Fiction Writing.   As blogging becomes more second nature, I am convinced that will happen.

My question to you is, are you blogging?  And if you are, is it about something that has a real meaning for you?

Answers:

Yes, I’m blogging.

And . . . YES!!! My blog is a platform to post the articles that I truly enjoy writing.

Yay!

Thanks for suggesting the platform, and assisting with its construction. : )
