Culture Break: Stairway to Lenin
We interrupt our regularly scheduled program to bring you an important notice.
OK, enough of that.
I’ve been searching for a video for about 15 years. It is something I saw on a PBS show about a million years (or so) ago, and have been enamored of ever since.
Let me explain, first, I am not a fan of Ballet. Not particularly a fan of modern dance, either. But when you add those forms of dance an extraordinary stage mechanics, and put it all to Ravel’s “Bolero”, well, you’ve got something remarkable.
This morning, I thought I’d try again.
The Internet grows so rapidly, that the chance of finding what you are looking for improves daily, and today it paid off.
Please note that this is a Russian production, it is riddled with political and social images, peppered with history, and comedy, and… well, you fill in the blanks.
It’s a fairly long piece, taken from a much longer piece.
Here is “Stairway to Lenin”. If you watch it all, I think you will be impressed.
