Uphill Writing: Quips and Quotes
“The writer who cannot sometimes throw away a thought about which another man would have written dissertations, without worry whether or not the reader will find it, will never become a great writer.”

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio... and isn't it time you experienced some of them?

You caught me in the process of hunting down an e-mail that got lost before I selected its destination. That’s indeed the way my thinking goes sometimes. Question: Should I hunt for it down, or just wait until I run across it again accidentally. With really good ideas, though, I don’t think they get lost that easily. They’ll come back with different, and maybe even better wording.
I’ve had that very thing happen, Loreen. Often an idea comes back disguised as a new idea, only to reveal its true nature later on. My fear is that some of those that are gone stay gone, but are never noticed to have disappeared.
Wow! Great quote. And it’s so true. But it’s so hard to accomplish this. It takes practice, but really, writers have to be brutal with their babies don’t they. How’s your writing going by the way? I hope well!
Hi, Ollin
Nice to see you here.
And yes, it is very hard to let go of our literary children. Just getting them to the point where we can go off on their own to make their fortune is traumatic enough, but wondering what they’re doing all alone at night on the mean streets can drive you to… well, you get the idea.
As for my writing? Thanks for asking. Two of my children are getting anxious to get away. Gonna have to let them go soon.

I will have to think more about this quote before I can get my teeth into it.
Chomp!
