Is he saying that we all have our peculiarities, idiosyncracies; and thus the natural does not come easy?
Loreen, I don’t think so. My take is he is saying that an unforced style (writing that doesn’t feel so much like writing as being) is difficult to attain… and that when it is, we have a look into the core of the person.
You have to be an excellent observer of your character types or walk a mile in their shoes in order to write them as natural as possible.
I would hope, Nancy, that your definition is part of the over-arching definition of a good writer.
