Tools
Not everyone agrees with the use of “writer’s tools” in the process of creating a fiction novel or story, and I can understand why that is.
Purists among us will insist that a simple word processor is all we need. Some don’t even agree with that, saying that a typewriter, or a pad and pen should suffice. Obviously I am not a member of the “no tools” tribe.
That said, no matter how good the tools are, they will not do the work for you. Using a clever piece of software that keeps track of items, locales and characters is a wonderful thing, but you still need to create the items, locales and characters yourself.
Take a look at some of the software tools we’ve used over the years. Oh, and a very special Thank You to Jay Swartz who built the original list that this is based upon.
